Yes to picnic!
16 September 2016.
On this day, MCSIM Executive Committee members (Exco) and Subcommittee members were gathered together at Marina Barrage for an enjoyable day of fun and games. Yet, the reason close to heart for organising this picnic was to have a celebration for an important day to all Malaysians, the Malaysia Day! HAPPY MERDEKA!
Don’t they look so delicious and tempting?!
The foods are ready!!!yummy yummy!! To many of us, having a “picnic” outing sounds like a food party and to fit the concept of the day, everyone prepared a Malaysian dish that they love and shared it with everyone to enjoy.
The spread was sumptuous and filled with lots of dishes that evoke nostalgia in us, especially for those who had to live apart from their family due to studies. In fact, someone even brought mooncakes along, as Mid-Autumn Festival aka mooncake festival falls on 15th September this year! Besides being in food heaven and never-ending conversations, everyone was actively participating in the bonding games that the Excos had planned.
The complicated moment when you have to create the perfect shape while eyes are closed. Isn’t it too complicated?? But we really had to work together to create perfect shape.
The happy faces are on the way for food.
The main objective was to ease our new Subcommittee members into MCSIM’s family and to strengthen that connection through interactions. Throughout the activities, teamwork was in display and there were lots of laughter created.
Looking at everyone's faces, there were peacefulness and no signs of stress as the worries of a student slipped their minds. To make the wonderful evening even better, there’s even a mini impromptu singing session! We were even told that the subcommittee members were thankful to have this bonding session and it makes them feel more accepted and involved in this big family.
Here’s something we would like to share with you:
“It is always the best feeling when you are able to be around friends who come from the same country and culture as you, and celebrating meaningful days together when you’re in a foreign land, away from our homeland.”
-Yan Qin, Subcommitee member 2016
Coincidently it was a full moon on that day. Therefore, how can we miss the perfect shot.
Without much realisation, the sky has turned dark. The setting sun creates a perfect backdrop for photographs against the luscious greenery and Singapore’s skyline.
With strong feeling towards our homeland, here is something from us, the students from Singapore Institution of Management, Malaysian Community in SIM.
