Hi all! It has been a while since our last
update, too much events going on( tiring but it was a meaningul and fruitful
journey =) ). And now, let us give you
all a brief update on what happened in the past few months!
First of all, on the 7th
September, we have our club’s first donation drive, in conjunction with the
celebration of the annual Mid-Autumn Festival.
Before going in detail of what we did, a
short history about the Mid-Autumn Festival to you all:
The Mid-Autumn Festival (中秋节 Zhong Qiu Jie) is a harvest festival celebrated by ethnic Chinese and Vietnamese
peoples. It is held on the 15th day of the 8th month in
the Chinese Han calender and Vietnamese calender, on the night of full moon
between early September to early October. Listed as an “intangible cultural
heritage” by China, it is also an important festival for Chinese staying in
Malaysia and Singapore (probably the second-most important festival, ranking
after Lunar New Year). It symbolizes happy reunion and delivers hopes and thoughts
to friends and families.
So, to express our gratitude, love and
respect to the elderly, MCSIM organized a donation drive to collect food items
and cash for the elderly residing at Kim Tian West RC. We also celebrated this meaningful festival
with the elderly!
Some of the food items we collected: Milo,
Cream Crackers, Vermicelli, Oats/Cereal. We prepared 130 goodie bags to give
away to the elderly.
We received great support from SIM’s staff
as well!
We arrived early around 2pm at Kim Tian
West RC Pavilion had some decoration job done.
Lanterns! One of the notable icons of
celebrating this holiday.
More than 100 elderly turned up on that
day, we also invited our Malay and Indian friends to celebrate with us!
We prepared a buffet dinner for the
elderly, and also mooncakes! Another important hallmark traditions of this
festival. (Less Sugar mooncakes specially prepared to suit the eldely’s taste!)
Moreover, we also prepared a series of
performances such as lion dance, Er-Hu solo, violin performance, Chinese
Diabolo and nontheless a few good oldies for the elderly.
Another highlight of the event, lucky draw
session!
The event ended around 9pm and the elderly
enjoyed a lot! It was a success and we all had a great time celebrating this
wonderful event.
Last but not least, we would like to extend
our heartful gratitude and appreciation towards the people that involved. A great thanks to all the volunteers,
performers, and also the love and care from the kind people (espcially the
staffs from Student Development) that supported us! It wouldn’t be a success
without you all! =)

Secondly,
We
would like to thank all participants who took part in MCSIM sport league event.
A
multi-sport event – MCSIM Sport League held by MC SIM a few days ago ended with
a big success. This is the first time we organize a multi sport event in a
period of 2 days that feature 3 different sport games. This event received an
overwhelming response and this is a big step for MCSIM this year.
Back
to last year’s sport event, we only organized a sport competition for badminton
only. This year, we would like to bring together all sport lovers by providing
them with different sports competition. For this year’s sport league event, the
3 competitions included in the sport league are badminton, 3 on 3 basketball,
and dodgeball competition.
Before
the event is open out to SIM students, we tried so hard to design a poster that
can attract the attention of all sport lovers. And the image above is our final
design that we think can attract the crowd to join our event. And YES, we
managed to hit our target participants within 2 weeks time and we were all very
excited about the events.

Thirdly,
MCSIM Life Game
“Life is
a journey, not a destination.” by Ralph Waldo Emerson.
Towards
life, tons of definition of life could be found on our minds. To me, Life is
just like an unsolved jigsaw-puzzles, you were unable to figure out what the
picture was going to be, but the answer will be going to revel after all the
events have been taken into place. So, what’s our own definition towards life?
It is really a question that we should be pondering over.
Guiding
and anticipating our participants to the different level of thinking about
life, “Life Game- The Journey” has been introduced, incorporating in the
travelling concept which held on 14th November 2014. To highlight this
new concept, different game station with featuring the different cultural
peculiarities of different countries had been set up to amplitude the soundness
of the concept.
Kind
of an amazing race, every group got their group passport which was meant for
points recording and upon clearing the station, they would be given a clue to
lead them to the other destination. Apart from creating fun moment with their
teammates, therefore, they definitely have some takeaway along the journey.
To
conclude the “Life Game- The Journey”, we have given out prizes to top three
groups with the highest point. In addition, there is one additional special
prize to one player who has the best caption of “what does life mean to you”
with the photo on Instagram. A Starbucks card with the credit balance of 30
dollars had been presented to the winner.
Last
but not least, we do hope that it is a fruitful journey to all the
participants, giving you a comprehensive way of the shape of life. Furthermore,
thanks for all the participants, helpers, committees, school for support along
the way to make this “Life Game- The Journey” more preeminent as it is.
